Pastor's wife suicide confirmed

by Lydia Davies

In Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the tragic death of Pastor John-Paul Miller’s wife, Mica Miller, aged 30, has been ruled by the medical examiner as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This conclusion aligns with her husband's account, which described her demise in Lumber State Park, North Carolina, on April 27.

The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is set to discuss the details of the coroner's report with Miller's family.

Amidst this, Mica's family and friends have expressed their disbelief and confusion about her death.

Tim Carter, one of Mica’s friends, shared with NewsNation his doubts: “My gut feeling is I don’t agree. The young lady was energetic; she was making plans. It just doesn’t sound like someone committed suicide."

Before her death, Mica had reported fears for her safety to the Horry County Police Department in March after experiencing harassment. The police report noted, “The victim advised me she was afraid for her life,” detailing incidents including slashed car tires and a tracking device placed on her vehicle.

Despite seeking legal separation and filing for divorce in October 2023 from John-Paul Miller, Mica also addressed issues of abuse in a Facebook video in March. Following her passing, John-Paul Miller announced to his congregation at Solid Rock Church that Mica had succumbed to mental illness challenges: “I got a call late last night, my wife has passed away,” he said. “It was self-induced and it was up in North Carolina.”

After sharing this news with his church, John-Paul Miller requested privacy and prayers: “Y’all pray for me and my kids and everybody. You all knew she wasn’t well mentally and she needed medicine that was hard to get to her."

Following these events, Solid Rock Church relieved John-Paul Miller from his senior pastor duties. The community later came together for a vigil outside the church to remember Mica Miller.
